Our senior team played their seventh league game against Curry in
Curry on Saturday. The game started slowly but both teams registered
scores in the first few minutes. The teams exchanged scores through
the half, but Johns took the advantage through a John Scanlon goal.
Curry responded with a couple of points but we added a score to leave
us ahead at half time 1-06 to 0-06. Curry used the wind and closed the
gap quickly after the break. The scores remained close until mid-way
through the half when Curry took control slotting over point to win in
the end by a score of 1-21 to 1-09. The team that started was Phillip
Greene, Eoin Flanningan, Neil Hayse, Paul McLean, Feidhlim Murphy,
Michael McNamara (C), Micky O’Hehir, David Burke, Shane Stenson, David
Rooney, Brian Harris (0-02), Ronan McGarrigle, Ian Rossiter (0-02),
John Scanlon (1-05), Dara McGarty. Subs used Tommy Kelly, Enda Roche.
Our Junior A team defeated St Molaoise Gales on Friday night by a
score of 3-07 to 0-13. A great performance from a depleted squad, with
great performances by Sean Reilly and Terry Farrely.
Our Junior B team lost out to Bunninadden on Sunday by a score of 1-06
to 3-09. After a less than acceptable first half performance the lads,
led by Conor Heffernan, put in a big game in the second half and got
some great scores. Best on the day were the ‘ever-young’ Kieran Walsh
and John Reilly.
