The Minor A Championship Final was played on Sunday last in Ballymote between St. Marys and St. Nathys.  The rain stayed away but the wind was testing for both sides.  It was St. Nathys who got off to the better start playing a short passing game and at half time had kicked a good lead with 2.8 to 1.2.  St. Marys couldn’t keep with the pace of the Nathys girls through middle and failed to close the gap in the second half.  St. Nathys went onto win with a final score of 3.15 to 1.2.

The Senior final takes place on Saturday 21st September in Tubbercurry.  The Intermediate play-off took place between Curry and St. Michaels on Saturday last and in what was a very tight game ended level resulting in a re-play which will take place as a curtain raiser to the Senior Final @ 1.30pm.  Throw in for the Senior Final is at 3.45pm.

The U14 A & B Championship Finals take place on Thursday next the 19th September in Sligo IT grounds.   The B Final is between St. Nathys & St. Marys at 6.30pm and the A Final is being contested by Drumcliff & Eastern Harps directly after.   The C Final between Coolera and CT Gaels of which a date and venue have yet to be decided.

On behalf of the county Board we want to thanks the Clubs and their members of Curry, Ballymote and St. Nathys who hosted U10 blitz’s throughout the year.   The games were very enjoyable and all players received a medal at the last blitz which was sponsored by Martin Foley of Foley’s Bar and Off-Licence, Sligo.

The U13 and U15 Development squads are in Ballyhaunis on Saturday next the 21st September.  2 U13 teams are being submitted with 1 U15 team competing.  Good luck to all involved.  Coaches are urgently needed to help with this group on Saturday mornings at 12 noon.  There are over 80 players between the 2 groups and all help is greatly appreciated.  Please contact Sean Kilgannon on 0862617193 if you are able to help out.

At the recent County Board meeting it was decided to advertise for the management positions for County Teams for 2014.  The positions available are open to all individuals, which will cater for U12, U14, U16, Minor & Adult teams.   There are very good players in our County and we need to help develop them and keep them in football and the only way to do that is to have interested and energetic people managing them.  Please make contact to someone within your local club who will give you the details on how to make a Submission or you can contact Louise O’Donnell on 087 6356679.

Congratulations are extended to 2 Sligo Referees who were awarded the honor of officiating at the Ladies All Ireland on 29th Sept.  Gus Chapman is Referee at the Intermediate Final while John Niland will take hold of the Senior Final.
