Three of Sligo's clubs represented the county in Croke Park on Saturday at the Connacht GAA activity day for u-12's. Easkey in Hurling took part in the morning session with two squads taking part. The two squads took on a number of Galway teams and showed tremendous amounts of skill in each of their matches. It was fantastic to see the great number of parents and supports with the team and all the lads savoured every moment they had to play in the home of GAA. Well done to the coaches involved who have worked very hard to get the lads to the level of skill which they showed.

In the afternoon session Eastern Harps and St Molaise gaels both had two teams taking part against a number of clubs from Roscommon and Mayo. Once again the level of skill showed by players from both clubs was of an extremely high level. The comfort and composure these lads had on the ball was brilliant to watch and great credit goes to both clubs for the work they have done.

Watching all three teams instilled great pride in myself as a Sligo person and I will watch with great interest in the next few years as i watch their development through the age grades.

Well done to all involved and thank you Connacht council and Croke park for this fabulous initiative.
