Our  club AGM takes place this Friday, Jan 24th, in Dromore West Community Centre at 8pm. All families involved with the various club teams should be represented.

At the recent Sligo Ladies Co. Convention Kathleen Kane was elected chairperson for the coming year. We wish her well in the post and would like to thank her predecessor Louise Lavin for all her work over the past few years. Outgoing Development Officer Sean Kilgannon did not seek re-election and that position along with a number of other important positions remain unfilled.

Best of luck to all involved with the St. Farnan’s Ballad Group which will compete in the Connacht finals of Scór na nÓg in the TF Theatre in Castlebar on Saturday next, the 25th. The members of the group, Oisin and Aoife Connolly, Caoimhe Hynes, Siobhain Foy and Darragh Giblin, have all had a long association with Scór na nÓg but so far none of them have tasted the success which their efforts deserve at this stage of the competition. The group, which is tutored by Róisín Kilgannon, a triple winner at Provincial level, is now the club’s only representative to progress past the county stage this year following the Quiz team’s defeat in the co. finals in Corhownagh Hall on Sunday. The members of the team, Stephen Mulligan, Paddy O’Connor, Eamon Kilgannon and James Weir were selected following an internal club quiz a week earlier and despite a strong showing they finished in second place behind Calry/St. Joseph’s. The defeat brings an end to an incredible winning sequence which has seen the club capture the last ten quiz titles on the trot at county level and also the last three provincial titles.

Well done to James Hynes and Gareth Ryan who have both been lining out regularly for Sligo in the FBD Connacht League.

Sympathy is extended to the family of the late Joe Moffitt following his untimely and sudden death. Ar dheis Dé go raibh sé. The Rodeo NIte fundraiser was called off as a mark of respect.
