The under 12 team were in action in Markiecivz Park on Saturday last.They defeated Drumcliffe/ Rosses Point in the quarter final but lost to Enniscrone/ Kilglass in the semi final.The team had a great year in the league winning all their games but unfortunately their luck ran out on Saturday.Thanks to all the players for their commitment throughout the year and to mentors Padraig and Maura Hallinan for all their work with the team.
The minor team enjoyed a good win against Tourlestrane on Wednesday last on a score of 3-9 to 2-6. The under 14 team , however were defeated by Coolera/ Strandhill on the same night by 5-12 to 1-15.The under 16 team played Easkey on Monday in the championship.This was an exciting game between two local rivals. St. Farnan`s led by 0-9 to 0-8 at the interval. Easkey got a goal early in the second half but the home team battled hard. Victory was sealed when Kevin Mc Gee scored a very fine goal. The final score was St. Farnan`s 2-15, Easkey 1-12.This win ensures that St. Farnan`s will be involved in the latter stages of the championship.
The junior team played Geevagh in the league in Templeboy on Sunday and had a comfortable win scoring 3-15 to Geevagh`s 0-5.
The intermediate team will face St. Pat`s in the quarter final of the championship on Saturday next in Enniscrone at 6 p.m. Please support.
Well done to our county under 14 and 16 hurlers who took part in the All Ireland tournament in Newry on Saturday.The Stephen Tempany Hurling Tournament takes place in St. Farnan`s Park on Saturday,Sept. 6th at 11 a.m.This is an under 14 tournament with visiting teams from Donegal, Galway and Roscommon. All support welcomed.
