Repeat of last year’s Semi Final

Belfry Senior Football Championship Quarter final

Tubbercurry vs St.Molaise Gaels

Saturday 13th Sept @Markievicz Park Saturday at 6pm

Both sides will feel they are good enough to win this quarter final in a match which is a repeat of last year’s semi-final where Tubbercurry came out on top. Both sides come into this match on the back of mixed group performance. Molaise Gaels ended second in group B and just fell short of the top spot on head to head with Coolera/Standhill.

Tubbercurry have been a mixed bag in this year’s championship so far. They started very well against St.John’s but then Curry got the better of them in round two which ensured Tubbercurry had to get another victory in one of their last three games which they did against Geevagh which ensured Tubbercurry finished third in the group. Tubbercurry will be hoping that David Kelly can keep up his good form, also a big performance will be needed from Stephen Gilmartin as he has returned from his travels to help guide Tubbercurry into this year county final.

St.Molaise Gaels have a team who have been doing there work very quietly behind the scenes in group B and with impressive results against Coolaney/Mullinbreena the last day and before this an impressive display against Harps which earned themselves a draw that day. This has set up the St.Molaise Gaels lads with the repeat of Last year’s semi-final against Tubbercurry. Molaise Gaels have been without Eoin McHugh this year but Martin Feeney has been very impressive in the scoring stakes as his free taking alone has pushed Molaise Gaels over the line in many games .

Verdict: I think that Tubbercurry will have just too much in the locker for St .Molaise Gaels and should shade this match by 3 or 4 points.
