Now that the playing Season is over we can reflect on a highly satisfying year for St Marys when all our teams proudly represented the Club and brought great honour to St Marys and the wider Community.   There were many competitive highlights and our Club teams are very well positioned heading into 2015.  Other events centred in St Marys include the Clifford Cup, Girls and Boys Feile, local Community Games, the Pieta House Walk into the Light and the Fleadh.   Each had its own unique demands and our great Club spirit meant Members were always available to get involved and ensure all the events proved a success.

Plenty is still happening at Kent Park.   The Clubhouse is open each evening for Members’ use.   We have the benefit of a TUS program which continues to enhance Club facilities.    The racquetball season is in full swing and there is always a welcome to new people wishing to try the game.   We greatly value Micheal, his staff and the students in the Gaelscoil and they ensure Kent Park has great life and vibrancy every day.    St Marys has a commitment to Scór and we are fortunate that each Saturday morning, the Fred Finn CCE Branch organises traditional Irish Music lessons, (the new term starts on January 17th and new students are always catered to).   Many of our Club Members are busy at this time in St Marys Youth Choir.   This is a fantastic group of young people organised by Emma Purcell and Eileen Curley, which has gained recognition as a highly skilled Choir comparable to the best in the Country.

On the administration side, AGM’s have been held for the Ladies and Bord na nÓg committees and the Club itself.   Seamus Cronin was elected Chairperson of St Marys for 2015.   John Clifford remains Bord na nÓg Chairperson, with Tom McGauran taking over from Pauline Brennan as Ladies Chairperson.   Best wishes to each of them and their Committees for the year ahead.   The year will have a busy start with plans in train for an Operation Transformation program and the Club Dinnerdance on January 24th.   Then Gaelic training will be resuming with the return to competitive action and the start of the new Season shortly thereafter.

We wish everyone involved in St Marys a very happy Christmas and the best for 2015.   So many people young and not so young play their part in keeping our Club the success it has become, and a big thank you goes to all players, team management, supporters, Committee Members, those who quietly do invaluable roles in the background to keep our Club functioning and those who organise music, other sports and activities.   A social evening to celebrate the Christmas is planned for the 23rd in the Clubhouse and all Members are invited to attend.   At this time we think of anyone suffering from illness and wish them a speedy recovery and our condolences are given to those suffering bereavement during the year.
