There was disappointment for the senior men’s team on Sunday in the league. They lost to Eastern Harps by 1-10 to 1-7 in Oxfield, despite being five points up at one stage. Harps will be one of our opponents in the group stages of the championship later this summer. The team now has a match-break for a few weeks in the run-up to Sligo’s Connacht semi-final against Roscommon on June 20th.

Our intermediate ladies were well beaten by a very strong and well organised St Mary’s team on Sunday in Oxfield (8-6 to 5-4).  Missing a number of regulars, we struggled to really get in to the game but the ladies never gave up and finished strongly with some fine scores. Team: Emily McCormack, Joan Brennan, Orla McGowan(capt), Shirley Nicholson, Orlaith Furey (1-0) Avril Clancy( 0-1), Lisa McLoughlin. Ciara Redmond, Denise Regan, Aimee Oates, Tracy O’Boyle(4-2), Sinead Regan, Roisin Healy, Mary O’Hara, Keeley Greene(0-1) and Erin Cunningham. Next up is St Farnan’s away this Sunday at noon. Training continues on Wednesday and Friday evenings at 7pm.

There was disappointment too for the girls U16 team in the ‘A’ League final in Gurteen last week. They lost  to Eastern Harps on a scoreline of 5-6 to 1-6. It was still a fine achievement by the team to reach the league decider, and augurs well for the championship later in the summer.

Well done to everybody who took part in the Girls U10 blitz last Saturday in Markievicz Park. Thanks also the parents and guardians who were there to support/lend a hand.

Hard luck to the Rosses Point Boys U10 Community Games, whose run in the competition came to an end against Geevagh on Thursday. Despite a spirited second-half comeback, the team came up just short but the players can take plenty of encouragement from their performances. A work of thanks to the Drumcliffe U10s who travelled to Rosses Point earlier in the week to play a tough but very enjoyable challenge match against their clubmates who represented the Point in the Community Games.

The club is running a youth hurling camp for 12-16 year olds next month in Oxfield.
