The Gaels gathering takes place next weekend with lots of activities taking place. We kick off on Friday 29th when we honour the 1966 St Joseph’s Minor Team in Hartes, Riverstown. This will be followed by the annual Golf Classic on Saturday 30th in Castle Dargan Golf Club followed by the presentation in McDermotts, Castlebaldwin. On Sunday 31st May we will be holding a family fun day at Shamrock Gaels Park following Mass for deceased members at 12.30PM. The annual Dinner Dance will take place in Castle Dargan on Sunday night during which both the 1990 and 1992 winning teams will be honoured. We will also induct Hugh McGonagle into our Hall of Fame. The 2014 Player of the Year awards will also be presented. Tickets are available from any committee member for €25 and need to be purchased in advance.

The Senior team had a solid four point win over St Patricks on Sunday. The score was 1-13 to 0-12 while the team was: Donal Tuohy,  Colin Harte (0-2), Paul Higgins, Declan Willis, Conor Merrick, James Lyons, Michael Hannon, Joe Henry, David Quinn (0-3), Ciaran O’Connor, Keith Candon, Joe Quinn (0-7), Mark Boyd (1-0), Daniel Willis, Johnny Quinn (0-1). Subs: Frank Quinn for K Candon, Eoin Carroll for C O’Connor.

The Junior team were well beaten by St Marys at the weekend. They are due to play Owenmore Gaels at home next Saturday at 7PM.

The Boys U14 team defeated St Farnans 7-15 to 1-5 in the final league game last Friday. The team was Gareth Keville, Darragh Heffernan, Ryan Brennan, Aaron McKenna, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Shane McCann, Niall McGovern, Sean Carroll, Christian Monaghan, Conor Kearns, Darragh Kelly, Eoin Dwyer, Lee Deignan, Paul Leydon, Patrick Kenny.  Subs Dylan Mullen for D Heffernan, Eoin Dodd for Lee Deignan, Sean Mullen for Christian Monaghan, Damien Cullen for Paul Leydon.  They now progress to the playoffs for the league final.

The U12 boys play St Johns at home this Tuesday at 7.45PM.

The Junior Ladies lost 2-11 to 2-3 to Calry in the Division 2 League Final last Saturday. The team was: Aoife Morrisroe, Catherine Tuohy, Edel Lyons, Naomh Quinn, Aisling Boyd, Louise Merrick, Aoife Brennan, Siobhan Brennan, Joanne Harrison, Simone Kelly, Sonia McDermott, Rachel Boyd, Fiona Baker. Subs used: Roisin Kearns, Lisa Callaghan, subs: Ciara Brennan, Aoife O’Connor, Sarah Walsh, Sheona Leydon, Ailish Benson, Chloe Merrick, Joanne Johnston, Eilis  O’Connor, Mairead Tuohy, Aine O’Connell, Sinead McGovern.

The Girls U16 team defeated St Maloise Gaels 8-18 to 3-5 in the League Semi-Final last Thursday. The scorers were: Makalya McLoughlin (3-2), Chloe McTiernan (0-1), Mairead Tuohy (1-4), Jade Lyons (1-1), Roisin Kearns (0-5), Rachel Boyd (1-1), Eba McCann (1-0), Jane Benson (1-2), Sarah Walsh (0-1), Erin Mullaney (0-2). They play Eoghan Rua in the final this Thursday in St Farnans - please support.   

U 14 girls play St Farnans away this Tuesday at 7PM.

The U12 girls drew with (0-5) to (0-5) against Eastern Harps last week. The team was: Emma O’ Carroll, Lisa Somers, Kate Brady, Lucy Williams, Ruby Clark, Ellie Mc Dermott, Eimear Kelly, Ana Mc Cann (0-1), Andie Brady, Amy Willis, Nadine Hargadon (0-3),Aine Power, Leah Candon, Meabh Lyons (0-1), Nola Eivers, subs used: Abbie Williams, Sanduni Nankyoldcara. They now meet Eastern Harps in a play off for a place in either the A or B league semi-final.

 The U8’s and U10’s are away to Coolera /Strandhill this Wednesday at 7PM.

The club is looking to hold a first aid course for club members in the coming weeks. Anyone interested should contact Noel Benson on 086 1750971.

There was no winner of the lotto this week. Numbers drawn were: 12, 14, 23, 28. The jackpot now stands at €1,600 with the next draw in Hartes on 6th June.
