There was a disappointing start to the championship for the intermediate team when they were defeated by local rivals Easkey on a score of 3-9 to 3-3.Easkey got the first point of the match from a free but Matthew Lang replied with a point and James Hynes added another. Easkey, however added 1-3 before James Hynes struck the net. At half time Easkey led by 2-6 to 1-2. St. Farnan`s had the breeze in the second half and the first point came from James Hynes.Easkey replied with a goal but despite changes made to the starting team St. Farnan`s failed to make much progress. The side was reduced to fourteen men following the sending off of Matthew Lang for a second yellow card. James Hynes added two goals to his tally, one from the penalty spot and the other from play. The last point of the match came from Dessie Sloyane whose skill had caused many problems for St. Farnan`s throughout the game. The team was F. Hargadon, J. Quinn, K. Hannon, D. Taylor, G. Feeney, G. Ryan,D. Hynes, J. Hynes(3-2(1-0 pen.), M. Lang(0-1),K. Lang, F. Kilgannon, C. Hallinan, S. Neary, L. Ryan, D. Culkin.
