Our ladies footballers made a winning start to the Intermediate Championship last week. They won their opening group match against St Farnan's at Oxfield on a scoreline of 6-10 to 2-7. County player Rachael Monaghan put on a super show of finishing scoring  seventeen points of the team’s tally.  Special mention to Shirley Nicholson & Denise Regan who made a return day-trip from the Gaeltacht to be available for this game. Maith sibh! Team: Rachael Oates, Orla McGowan( c) Shirley Nicholson, Orlaith Furey ( 0-2) Aoife Clancy, Avril Clancy, Ciara Redmond, Rachael Monaghan (5-2), Michelle McNamara, Amanda Healy(0-2) Denise Regan, Róisín Healy (0-1), Tracy O’Boyle (0-3), Mary O’Hara, Sinead Regan (1-1), Emily McCormack, Ciara Goonan, Aimee Oates. The DRP ladies are in a group of four teams in the Intermediate Championship (eight in total) along with St Farnan's, Owenmore Gaels and St Mary's. The girls next match is away to Owenmore Gaels this Sunday.

We wish Seán Power, Cian Lally and the Sligo minors the best of luck in Friday evening’s Connacht Minor Football Final replay at Tuam stadium. Throw-in is 7pm. Please support the team if you can. Commiserations to Neil Ewing and the Sligo seniors on last Sunday’s defeat against Mayo. Heads up lads. Tyrone will be Sligo’s opponents in the qualifiers in two weeks time.

The boys U14 footballers put in a spirited display in their opening group match of the U14 Championship against St Mary's last Friday evening at Oxfield. Despite losing in the end, there were plenty of positives to take from the match as 13 players from the current team will be underage again next year.

Our boys U12 A league team was defeated in a very competitive game against St Molaise  Gaels in the league semi-final last week, while our D league team had a very comprehensive win against St Mary’s at Kent Park. We now play in the D league final on Wednesday 29th.  More details will appear on our Facebook page. The club wishes Eoin Kerrigan a speedy recovery following his recent injury.

Thanks to all the parents who attended our GAA Nursery tea/coffee get-together last Saturday. The nursery coaching now takes a short summer break until the end of August. Keep them practicing! Good luck to all our participants in this week’s Kellogg’s Cúl Camp at Oxfield.
