CALRY / ST JOSEPHS U14S ARE THROUGH TO THE COUNTY FINAL! !!
CALRY / ST JOSEPH'S 4-11
NAOMH MOLAISE GAELS 6-04

They say that goals win games, and thats true, but so does passion and pride. And passion and pride are not lacking in these young lads.

After an absolutely horrible start, conceding 3 early goals and 4 points. The game looked beyond redemption with the lads trailing by a massive 14 points at the break. Although we had  loads of possession in front of goals. ..we couldn't seem to convert on the scoreboard,  and but for some outstanding goalkeeping, the scores could have been a lot closer at half time.
But a half time team talk from Manager John Foy and his mentors Tom Fox and Brian Callaghan, ( a talk that the great Joe Kernan or Paidí O'Sé would be proud of!!) lit the fire in the bellies of these young lads. Out they came and tore into the opposition cutting through the defence like a hot knife through butter. They tacked over a few points,  then a couple of goals,  then a few more points.  Grange didn't know what hit them,  although they did get down for a couple of goals, and it seemed then that the North Sligo outfit had just done enough to hold on to their monstrous halftime lead. But after one final goalmouth scramble. ..the young ref blew the final whistle. ...nobody celebrated...who won???
Surrounded by players from both sides.
the ref tallied the scores and announced a one point win for the home side! !!
JUBILATION! !!!
Naturally enough, the opposition management queried the result, but credit to the young official, he stood his ground to answer any questions and credit to the Naomh Molaise officials, they accepted.
A truly MONSTROUS win for the young lads.
From no1 to no 25 and the management team of John, Tom and Brian take a bow!!!
Next up for the lads is the County Final against St Marys on next Monday at 7pm  so please show your support and put out your colours for these young heroes!

We have a busy couple of weeks coming up for the underage teams.
The annual Hugh McLoughlin Tournament will take place on this Saturday at 2 pm at Hazelwood. This is a fantastic tournament in memory of the great man who was the foundation of underage football in Calry. Teams from Calry,  Drumcliffe, Bunninadden, Melvin Gaels and St John's to name just a few will take part at the u11 grade to win the now much coveted trophy.
The September leagues see our u9 and u11s play this week in Scarden v St Michaels, then on Saturday week 12th September,  we will be having our final training session for the u6, u8 and u10's where the children will be showing off their skills and we will be presenting the children with their awards. We hope to have a large turn out that day and refreshments will be provided for all comers.
The Seniors play their very important league game against Drumcliffe / Rosses Point on Saturday evening at Hazelwood,  throw in 6.30pm.
We extend our sincere sympathies to the MacHale family Ballure on the death of Bea Aggie McGovern,  Glendevon, Mother of the late Tess MacHale.
