The club expresses sympathy to the Canning family in Rosses Point, following the death of Ann Canning last week. A minute’s silence was held in her memory before the senior footballers match last weekend.

The club’s re-arranged monthly meeting takes place this Tuesday night (May 3rd) in Oxfield at 9pm. All club management teams are asked to ensure a representative attends.

The senior footballers returned to winning ways in Division 2 of the league on Saturday evening with an impressive 1-17 to 1-11 victory over St Pat’s at Oxfield. Eight unanswered points in the closing quarter proved decisive. The win keeps us top of the table on 10 points after six rounds of matches.

Our junior team drew 2-8 to 1-11 with St Molaise Gaels at Oxfield on Sunday. We host Tourlestrane at Oxfield on Saturday evening at 7.

The ladies resumed their Connacht Gold Division 2 league campaign on Sunday morning, going down to Eoghan Rua in Enniscrone on a final scoreline of 4-15 to 3-10. They now face a decisive game against Calry/St Joseph’s in order to make the league play-offs.

The boys minor footballers recorded an impressive 3-11 to 2-5 win away to Geevagh in Division 3 of the league last Friday evening. Next up is St Pat’s this Friday in Skreen at 7pm.

The boys U14 footballers play St Molaise Gaels on Thursday evening in Oxfield (7pm).

Four DRP players - Kate Keyes, Ella McDermott, Sinéad Regan & Zara Mulrooney - featured on the Sligo girls U16 football panel which played Galway last week. While the game ended in defeat for the Yeats County, the competition is proving to be an invaluable learning experience for the players.

On the club front, our U16s lost to Tourlestrane in the league last Wednesday.

Good luck to four of our club hurlers - James O'Connor, John Gallagher, Oisín Brady and Sean Ballantine - who will be part of the Sligo team which competes in the inaugural Celtic Challenge hurling competition (for players aged 16 & 17). Their opening game is against Cavan on Wednesday.

Our U16 hurlers (Benbulben Gaels) were beaten by Tubbercurry last week although the game was much closer than the final scoreline  of 1-10 to 0-5 suggests. They play Easkey on Tuesday evening.

The U14 hurlers began their league campaign with a good 4-3 to 2-5 win over Tourlestrane last Thursday. As part of their preparations for Féile, they compete this week in a hurling tournament in Ballyshannon.

We host an U8 and U10 football blitz against Curry this Wednesday evening (4th). Players are asked to assemble in Oxfield by 6:45pm. Don’t forget the gum-shields!

There was no Jackpot winner of the club lotto draw for April, which stands at €5000.
Numbers drawn were 4, 6, 25, 26. The Match 3 winner of €100 was Margaret Broaders.
