The club celebrated its centenary in great style last weekend. Everything fell into place and it was definitely a weekend to remember and be proud of. It all started on Friday evening when there was mass in the pitch, which was followed by a panel discussion. The panel consisted of former members and players which were interviewed by Pat McCarrick. Following that the centenary book was officially launched by Christine Murphy. It was fitting that the daughter of Jack Brennan, the founder of the club, would launch the book. She gave a very insightful and interesting speech as she recounted her memories of the early days of the club. After that a specially designed plaque, which was kindly donated by Giblin stone was blessed.

On Saturday a full program of events was organised in the pitch. This turned out to be a huge success. It started off with the townland Olympics. There was 8 teams of 7 participants, which took part in 100 meters, potato peeling, jersey hanging, 1500 meters, wellie and horseshoe throwing, and free taking. After this there was a ladies match of mothers versus others. At half time the under 6/8/10 show cased their skills. The men's intermediate team of 97 versus the minor winning team of 99 played after this. Although there was a lot of legs that haven't being aired in years this was an enjoyable game and a entertaining event.  The senior men's team played Shamrock Gaels in a league game afterwards. The home team recorded a comfortable win.

We then moved onto the marquee specially erected at the community centre. Eileen Kirrane provided the catering service, which was top notch. And Maureen O'Dowd provided the music afterwards. This was a great  opportunity to catch up with former members and players. Well done to the organizing committee Fr Dan, Tom, Michael, Brid, Bill, Geraldine, Maurice and Fergus, on arranging a wonderful weekend.

The centenary book are still on sale but are going quickly, so anyone that is interested please contact either Brian McIntyre 087 2705372 or Fergus Leonard 087 7926950.
