The minor team suffered a disappointing defeat in the A shield final on Friday last in Scarden to Coolaney/ Mullinabreena/Bunninadden on a score of 3-8 to 1-11. St. Farnan's had to line out without a number of injured players for this game namely Patrick O'Connor, Sean Hallinan, Keelan Kilrehill and Kieran Devaney. Coolaney got the first score of the game. Stephen Mulligan levelled with a free. Coolaney got a second point and again Stephen leveled with a free. Coolaney aided by the breeze dominated matters and went on to lead by 1-5 to 0-2. St.Farnan's added three points to their tally but all our scores came from frees. Coolaney got a second goal to lead 2-6 to 0-5 at half time.
Eamonn Kilgannon got the first point of the second half from a 45. Coolaney added a third goal to give them a ten point lead. Iarla O'Connor who came on as substitute at the break got our first point from play. St. Farnan's battled hard and finally got their first goal from a penalty to narrow the gap to four points. We had chances but Coolaney's defence held firm preventing a second goal.
This ends the season for the minor team. Thanks to all the players and management for their work and dedication throughout the year.

Congratulations to Easkey / St. Farnan's under 14 hurling team which won the county championship following a win over Ben Bulben Gaels by 4-9 to 3-6 on Thursday last. Good luck to the under 16 hurlers who play Tubbercurry/ Cloonacool in the championship final on Wednesday.
