The minor  team suffered  a disappointing  defeat in the A shield  final on Friday  last in Scarden to Coolaney/ Mullinabreena/Bunninadden on a score of 3-8 to 1-11. St. Farnan's  had to line out without  a number  of injured  players for this game namely Patrick  O'Connor,  Sean Hallinan,  Keelan Kilrehill  and Kieran Devaney. Coolaney got the first score  of the game. Stephen  Mulligan  levelled  with a free. Coolaney got a second point and again Stephen  leveled  with a free. Coolaney aided by the breeze dominated  matters and went on to lead by 1-5 to 0-2. St.Farnan's  added three points to their tally but all  our scores  came from frees. Coolaney got a second goal to lead 2-6 to 0-5 at half time.
Eamonn Kilgannon  got the first point of the second half from a 45. Coolaney added a third goal to give them a ten point lead. Iarla O'Connor  who came on as substitute  at the break got our first point from play. St. Farnan's  battled hard  and finally  got their first goal from a penalty to narrow  the gap to four points. We had chances but Coolaney's defence held firm preventing a second goal.
