Niall Carew has today, Thursday, informed An Rúnaí that due to increased work commitments he will not be in a position to remain as Senior Team Manager for the Sligo football team. The opportunity that has presented itself in terms of his occupation was unanticipated and Niall regrets the necessity to make this decision so soon after his reappointment as Bainisteoir.

Sligo   County Committee wish to thank Niall for the undoubted progress that he has made with the senior team over the last three years. His era has coincided with excellent performances against teams in higher divisions and the introduction of new talent has further strengthened the panel.

He has left a solid foundation for his successor.

I have no doubt that Niall has more to contribute to the GAA and I wish Niall, Michelle, Sadhbh, Caoimhe and Páidí every good wish for the future.
