At a recent meeting of the County Executive the existing ‘Managerial Appointments Committee was directed to seek two external independent members to assist with the selection process.

This task has now been completed and the internal sub-committee members will be joined by former Cavan County GAA Chairman Tom Reilly, originally from Mayo and a member of the Shannon Gaels GAA Club in Blacklion, Co.Cavan and John Tobin, former Galway player and currently Games Development Manager for Connacht GAA. John played with Galway for 11 years, winning 5 Connacht titles, before going on to manage Roscommon and Connacht, inter provincial sides.

The appointments committee will be meeting over the coming week to draw up a list of prospective candidates for the role which will include nominations from Clubs.

It is hoped to announce the new incumbent by the end of October.

In addition to the senior football manager, the committee will also be addressing both the under 20 football and senior hurling management positions.
