Between a 1st minute point from the excellent Ollie White and a 60th minute score from impressive second half substitute Caoilean Cathy it was a brilliant team display that saw the Junior B Championship title cross the Grange River as Gaels overcame neighbours DRP by 1-19 to 2--09 in the Bank Holiday Mon replay at Kent Park.
Daniel Keaney punched a crucial first half goal for the winners who let a first half seven point lead slip away before regaining control of the game just before the interval.
In the second half despite the best efforts of DRP Gaels answered every score from their opponents with one of their own with captain Martin Feeney an influential presence in attack while supported by Luke Towey and the hardworking Ben Roberts. DRP's best efforts to get back into the matched were twarted by a resolute winners defence with Ronan Keegan outstanding and Damien Kelly and Daniel Keaney also to the fore. Man of the Match was Ollie White.
Well done to the entire squad., Manager Mick McElligott and Selectors Tommy McGowan , Paul Healy and Brian White. Thanks to the supporters who turned out in such great numbers Congratulations to the Lads who brought the Adult football season to a close with silverware coming to the Club with a proud County Board Vice Chairman Johnny Waters presenting the Cup to Gaels captain Martin Feeney.
