Drumcliffe/Rosses Point GAA Club Hosts Zero2Hero Event

The senior footballers of Drumcliffe/Rosses Point GAA Club will swap their football boots and gloves for microphones and auction hammers this Thursday evening (Nov 30th)when they host a unique club event which will take place in the Radisson Blue Hotel at 7pm.

Zero2Hero will provide a lively evening of entertainment, featuring top class GAA discussion and interviews with a range of well-known GAA personalities.

Special guests on the night will include Galway footballer Shane Walsh who has just returned from the Irish International Rules series down under; Mayo senior ladies football captain and 2017 All-Star recipient Sarah Tierney; Former Donegal All-Ireland winning manager Brian McEniff and Monaghan’s rising football star Jack McCarron. The Yeats County will be well represented too with former Sligo All-Star and current Tourlestrane manager Eamonn O’Hara, alongside Drumcliffe/Rosses Point and Sligo senior football captain Neil Ewing. BBC freelance broadcaster and local clubman Austin O’Callaghan will be putting the questions to the guests - with some help from the audience!

There will also be an opportunity for our younger audience members to meet the stars personally and to get autographs signed and selfies taken.

“The chat will then be followed by a fundraising auction with a difference,” explains Niall Canning who’s one of the #Zero2Hero event organisers - and who will be in control of the auctioneer’s ‘hammer’ on the night.

“Every member of our senior football panel has donated prizes for the auction on the night. The lads have really pulled out all the stops and have assembled a terrific range of prizes and goodies to suit all ages and interests.” From city breaks to sporting events and memberships, to solving your winter fuel needs for the festive season, there’ll be something on the night for everybody.

As well as the on-stage entertainment, the evening will also provide useful information to other local sporting and community groups, courtesy of Sligo Leader Partnership Ltd, on forthcoming funding opportunities coming down the track in 2018.

The organisers of Zero2Hero are very grateful to event sponsors Clifford Electrical, Bank of Ireland, Dean Hall Tree Services and AVA Systems for their support.

Admission to Zero2Hero on Thursday evening costs just €10 and includes entry into a special draw for a special ‘festive’ door prize. The evening is scheduled to begin at 7pm.
