Sports Capital Funding
We were
delighted to hear that the club is to receive €62000 from the Sports Capital
Funding Grants. This is thanks to an application prepared by Michelle McKiernan
and the Finance Committee. A lot of time and effort went into this application
and we’d like to thank our local representatives who supported it. The funds
are to be used in the development of the club facilities.

AGMs
Both the Bord na nÓg and
the Club Annual General Meetings were held last week. Outing Bord na nÓg
officers were returned for another term of office. Seán Carroll will continue
as Chairperson and Pamela Higgins will continue as Secretary. In his address
Seán thanked everyone who had been involved with our under-age teams this year.
There were mixed fortunes for some of our teams, but the club still won some
silverware. There were reports from all age groups in both boys and girls. One
of the major challenges facing the club is the numbers of players who stop
playing when they reach under 16/18. While there are good numbers at the
younger ages we need to encourage those older players to remain playing with
the club.
There was a large
attendance at the Club AGM held on Saturday. There were detailed reports from
the secretary Cathal Martyn and outgoing chairperson Philip Maree as well as a
detailed Financial Statement. All out-going officers were returned for another
term. Some points of note from the meeting were…..that from January 2018
on-line registration will be the only method of registration (current direct debit
members may continue to pay in this way, or change to on-line registration),
the club will continue to promote its weekly lotto and urges all members to
support this fundraising activity, and that as a club we need more people to
get involved in the various projects.
