Senior Manager 2018

We are pleased to confirm the re-appointment of Fergal O’Flaherty as the men’s senior football team manager for 2018. Fergal and his backroom team put in a trojan effort with the players last year and we are delighted to have him back on board once again. DRP will contest Division 1 in the league, as well as senior championship football this year.

County Call-Ups

Four of our U14 girls footballers have been selected for the Sligo LGFA county U14 panel for 2018. We wish Maeve Casserly, Caoimhe Connor, Rianne Smith & Isabella Henry every success in the months ahead.

Up the Lillywhites!

We wish our former ladies club captain Siobhan O’Sullivan (now based in Naas) every success when she resumes her intercounty career later this month with Kildare ladies footballers in Division 3 of the Lidl National League. 

Celebrating our Juvenile Players

The achievements and commitment of our juvenile hurlers and footballers over the past 12 months from U12 through to Minor will be acknowledged at a special celebration evening on Saturday, January 20th, in Rathcormac Hall. The event will provide an opportunity to pay tribute to the work of all our players and underage coaches during 2017. This is a free event and everyone is welcome to attend. 

GAA Nursery
Save the date: The GAA Nursery for 2018 is scheduled to start on Saturday March 3rd. More details in the coming weeks.

Handball Coaching

Drumcliffe Handball Club have resumed their Saturday morning coaching sessions in Oxfield for 2018. Coaching for players aged 13-16 takes place every Sat at the following times: Players agaed 13-16 yrs at 9:30am; 9-12 yrs at 11:30am; 6-8 years at 11:30am. As always, new players are very welcome go come along and give handball a try.

First Aid Course
The club will be holding a First Aid course in the coming weeks for club coaches and mentors. Places on this course are limited. To check availability, please contact our Coaching Officer Declan Carroll on

Coaches - Are you Garda Vetted?
A reminder to ALL club mentors involved in 2018 that being Garda Vetted is one of three mandatory requirements for any new or existing coach involved with any of our underage teams or nursery training programmes (the other two requirements are: (1) Completion of the Child Protection course and (2) Completion of the GAA’s Foundation coaching course). The GAA e-vetting form is available on the club’s website at drp.gaa.ie or check out our Facebook page.

Club Meeting

The first club meeting of the New Year is scheduled for Monday, January 29th in Oxfield at 9pm.

GAA Survey

An online survey is currently being conducted by the GAA nationally, to help inform the development of the Association’s Strategic Plan for the period 2018 – 2020. The plan will result in organisation-wide goals and strategies to improve the Association at all levels. The survey takes about six minutes to complete. All club members are welcome to participate. You’ll find the survey on gaa.ie. The closing date for submissions is Jan 15th.

Condolences

The club extends its deepest sympathy to the Feeney family in Castletown following the passing of Roddy Feeney over the Christmas period. Roddy was well-known a popular figure with a deep connection to the Parish. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
