It is with sadness we heard of the sudden death of Donal Kirby R.I.P better known as Donnie. Assistant secretary of Sligo County Board.Donnie was a Limerick man a native of Ballyneety also a Hurling man and had a great love for both. He hurled with Ballybricken Gaa Club where he won a County Championship in the 1970's. In 1983 Donnie moved to West Sligo where he married Christine, Daniel and Emma followed.

His passion for Hurling grew in West Sligo where he started coaching hurling in the Schools in February 1999 Western Gaels was formed and Donnie became Club Secretary. Donnie worked exceptionally hard developing underage teams winning U-14 and U-16 County titles.In 2010 his beloved Western Gaels won the Sligo Senior Hurling Championship.

Coiste Chontae Shligigh extend our deepest sympathy to  Donal's wife Christine son Daniel daughter Emma and extended family.

Donal (Donie) Kirby, Castletown, Easkey, Co. Sligo and formerly of Ballyneety, Co. Limerick.  Suddenly at his residence.  Reposing at his residence on Saturday from 4pm until 9pm.  Funeral will arrive to St. Jame’s Church, Easkey on Sunday morning for Mass of the Resurrection at 11.30am with burial afterwards in Roslea Cemetery, Easkey.  Family flowers only, donations if desired to Croi, C/o McGowan’s funeral directors.  House private on Sunday please.
