It’s Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camp week at Oxfield. We were delighted to be joined on Tuesday by some of the victorious Sligo hurlers with the Lory Meagher Cup. They were a big hit with our Cúl campers! Our thanks to Sligo GAA for organising - and a special mention too for our local Cúl Camp co-ordinator Mary Power and her team of volunteers for all their work at Oxfield this week.

Our senior men’s footballers completed their Division 1 league campaign last Sunday at Kent Park with a spirited 3-9 to 2-11 victory over St Mary’s. However, results elsewhere meant that we have been relegated to Division 2 for next season. While the team performed well against sides in the top half of the table (winning two & drawing two), results elsewhere cost them in the end. The players will now re-group for the start of the 2018 Belfry Senior Championship which, for DRP, begins on the weekend of August 11/12th.

Our junior men’s footballers recorded a 1-18 to 3-7 success at home to Coolera/Strandhill in Division 4 last Saturday. The team travel to Hazelwood this Friday evening to play Calry/St Joseph’s at 8pm.

Hard luck to the Benbulben Gaels U16 hurlers who gave Easkey/St Farnan’s a real run for their money in Tuesday evening’s league final at Markievicz Park. The players produced a fine display before our opponents ran out winners on a final scoreline of 3-14 to 3-10. 

The DRP U12 hurlers backed up their recent win over Western Gaels two weeks ago with a 0-14 to 0-2 success over Tubbercurry last Monday evening.

The girls minor footballers began their championship campaign on Monday evening, going down to Shamrock Gaels at Oxfield by DRP are one of five teams in the ‘A’ championship, which is being played on a round-robin basis this year. The team’s next match is against Tourlestrane at Oxfield on August 1st.

Our ladies intermediate footballers begin their championship campaign in August.

Well done to our club players who were involved in Sligo ladies team’s win over Longford in the TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate football championship at the weekend. 

Our boys U16 footballers began their championship campaign on Monday evening with a 3-16 to 1-10 loss to Curry. The U16 A championship comprises six teams and is being played on a round-robin basis, so it’s early days in this competition.

Well done to the boys U14 footballers who completed their Division 1 league campaign with an impressive 7-11 to 3-12 win against Ballymote/Bunninadden last Thursday.

Saturday morning GAA nursery coaching now takes a summer break - and will resume towards the end of August. Coaches will notify parents of the return date in due course.
