It was a very disappointing end to the season for our senior men going down 2-15 to 1-05 to Tourlestrane in the quarter final of the championship in Bunninadden on Sunday evening. When Luke Towey scored a brilliant individual goal in the 35th minute Gaels trailed by just 1-06 to 1-04 and an exciting finish seemed likely. However Tourlestrane dominated from there to the end and ran out deserving winners. Nothing much seemed to go Gaels way when Keelan Waters had to withdraw from the starting team just before the game and after just two minutes of action key forward Alan McLoughlin had to join him on the sideline after sustaining a back injury. Gaels then lost Cathal Burns to a black card after twenty minutes and despite the best efforts of the team who fought bravely to the final whistle we were unable to match a very powerful Tourlestrane side. Thanks to the Panel for their efforts this season and to Manager Willie Gormely and his Selectors and backroom team.

Last  Saturday Sept 15th saw our inaugural PJ Gillen Blitz for U10 Girls at Monsignor Hynes Park. Eight teams featuring 110 Girls took part in a morning of fun and great entertainment. The Event was an outstanding success and we look forward to it being an annual event. Thanks to the Gillen Family for their support and to everyone involved in organising and running the event. Particular thanks to Margaret Gilmartin and Charlie Hegarty in planning the event and to Paul, Terry  and Declan for having the pitches so well prepared for the day.
