It was a disappointing Friday night for our Junior team when they were defeated by Drumcliffe/ Rosses Point in the Junior B championship final in Scarden on a score of 1-12 to 0-13. We led in the early stages of the first half by 3points to 2  as Drumcliffe recorded a number of early wides but St. Farnan's struggled in the remainder of this half to find much needed scores and at half time found themselves trailing by 9 points to 5. The introduction of substitutes Gavin Calpin and Dermot Browne into the forward line in the second half added momentum to the attack and by the thirteenth minute the sides were level. However a point by Drumcliffe followed by a goal by Sean Flanagan tuned the tide. A late rally saw us score three points in the latter stages but a goal remained elusive and saw Drumcliffe / Rosses Point claim victory by two points. The team was Sean Hallinan, Ronan Molloy, Declan Taylor, Kieran Kilgannon, Niall Crean, Patrick Flynn, Oisin Connolly, Michael Mc Gowan, Shane Feeney (0-4f), David Culkin, Evan Kilrehill (0-1), Declan Cawley (0-1f), Stephen Tempany, Karl Hannon (0-2), Niall Culkin. Subs: Gavin Calpin (N. Culkin),  Dermot Browne (S. Tempany), Jason Mc Guinness (E. Kilrehill), James Flynn(P. Flynn), Stephen Crean, Darragh Gillen, John Mc Nulty, Conor Feeney, Cormac Mc Gowan, David Finnegan, Fergal Ryan.
Thanks to the manager Karl Hannon, selectors Kieran Kilgannon, Dermot Browne , Declan Taylor and all the players for their work and dedication throughout the year. Thanks to Micheal Mc Gowan and son, Water Drilling for sponsorship of a set of t- shirts for the team.
Our under 21 team played Coolaney/ Mullinabreena in the first round of the B championship but we're defeated in a high scoring encounter by 4-13to 2-11.Two goals early on in the first half by Coolaney set the tone for this game and left us trailing by nine points at the interval 2-9 to 0-6.  Another two early in the second half saw us 4-10 to 0-7 adrift. The team showed  great heart and fought back and if missed goal opportunities had been taken the team could have found themselves with an opportunity to achieve a win.  The team will be heartened by good displays from younger players David Hallinan and Cahán Hallinan. The team was Kieran Devaney, David Hallinan, Fergal Ryan, Shane O' Brien, James Weir (1-2), Cahán Hallinan, Kevin Mc Gee, Gavin Connolly, Niall Crean, Finnian Cawley (1-4(1f), Mark Devaney, Iarla O'Connor (0-1), Gavin Calpin (0-4(3f). Sub: Patrick Flynn (F. Ryan), Oisin Connolly, Simon Mullarkey, Sean Hallinan, Evan Kilrehill. The team play Geevagh/ St. Michael's on Saturday at 11am in St. Farnan's Park.
