It was a mixed week for our representative football, when the County men incurred another loss, this time to Longford when despite scoring 14 points the opposition scored a couple of goals along with a similar points tally.   The lads and their supporters have deserved more from the league than they received, but it can be very hard to reverse a losing streak.   They have one last chance against Offaly in Collooney this week, and fingers crossed this will be their day.   Much better news from Cloonacool when our county ladies had a solid win against a good Roscommon side and now look forward to their next match away to Offaly.   Unfortunately a week that held so much for Summerhill ended without a much coveted Connaught title.   There was a breathtaking start when Summerhill beat Glaregalway College on the narrowest of margins by 1-12 to 2-08, to earn a final against Roscommon CBS.   This was played 5 days later, and the lack of sufficient recovery time had to be a disadvantage, and the Sligo lads lost a high scoring encounter.   Earlier in the week the 1st year side lost their quarter final to Claregalway College.

Within the club, matches are starting.   The Kiernan Cup quarter final against Castleconnor is being held in Kent Park this Saturday with a 4.30 throw-in, and the U16 side commence their A League, Group B campaign when they travel to Geevagh on Sunday for a noon throw-in.   Good luck to both sides and all support will be welcomed.

After a very successful dinner dance, a trad session was organised for the clubhouse last Friday and thanks to Peter and co for a really enjoyable evening.   A particular word for those who were making their “public debuts”.   We all look forward to this becoming a regular feature in the Club’s social calendar.
