It will be
a defining week for our minor boys as they take on St John’s/Owenmore Gaels on
Monday in Kent Park at 6.45pm, then later in the week on Thursday, it is a long
trip out to St Brendan’s Park to take on Castleconnor with a 7.15pm throw-in. The U14 Boys have a home game against
Tubbercurry/Cloonacool also on Thursday, where the start is 6.30. Good luck to both teams.
At U12
level we met our neighbours St Johns.
The bragging rights are definitely with our Division 3 side who once
again had a comfortable victory scoring an impressive 24 points, while our
Division 1 side struggled and lost out by 14 points to 10. They have an opportunity to right things at
the next series of games which take place against Coolera on April 30th.
The senior
men travelled to Shamrock Gaels on last Sunday in their latest league tie. While they scored 2-12 it was only enough to
secure a draw as the home side reached 18 points. Next league match is on this coming Sunday
when Eastern Harps are the visitors to Kent Park for a 3pm start.
The ladies’
section of the club was quite busy this week.
What a performance by our U12 girls when they played Calry St Joseph's
at Ballinode College on last Thursday evening. St Mary's dominated each quarter
to finish with a scoreline of 17 to 4 in favour of Mary's. Girls played well in
every position and showing great improvement week on week. Next up is a home game against St Molaise
this Friday evening 26th April at 7pm. St. Marys U14 girls were not as fortunate when
they played their first game against St Johns last week. The match took place in horrible conditions,
and our girls could not prevent a physically stronger opposition with the
benefit of a strong wind running up a big first half score. The second half was a different story and
while the damage could not be undone, we took our points well and look forward
to playing Curry away this Monday. The
U16 girls will have 3 critical league matches in a week commencing this
Wednesday when they are away to CT Gaels.
The Senior ladies
continued to enjoy a great run of form on Sunday when they travelled to Bunninadden
to play St Nathys and came away with the points for a result that guarantees a
place in the Spring Cup semi-final. It
was an exciting game and we were worth the 4 point margin. There were strong performances throughout the
team and this will be needed again next weekend, when we play Geevagh where a
victory would get us straight to the final.
