Senior Ladies

Well done to the Senior Ladies who had a comprehensive win over Curry in the 11-a-side summer league meeting as the continued their impressive run to date in the competition.

Senior Men

JBFC Geevagh 1-11 Owenmore Gaels 1-14

A super performance from a team with just the right blend of youth and experience saw us take the points from Geevagh on Sunday last.
We started slowly, Diarmuid O'Grady saving superbly in the first minute to prevent a goal and Geevagh then hitting 4 points in a row before we got of the mark with a free from Adrian Egan. Geevagh hit the next 2 to stretch the lead to 5. Brian Mcpartland was introduced and with John Sweeney started to get to grips with the Geevagh full forward line. Liam Gilligan drove forward to point before a brilliant solo run from Shane Moran reduced the deficit to 3. Geevagh got the next before Egan hit a free and Darragh Mahon got a nice point after a Ross Trill turnover in the middle to leave the score 0-7 to 0-5 at half-time in favour of the hosts.

Similar to the first we started slowly in the second half. Geevagh got 1-3 with our only reply an Egan effort from play after good work from Ciaran Mcpartland and Joey Sweeney. At 1-11 0-7 we had a mountain to climb with 15 to play.
Climb we did. Moran finished a nice move to goal and give us hope. The youth of Luke Middleton, Ciaran Mcpartland, Darragh Mahon and Conall O'Dwyer was giving us the edge as the game opened up. The backs were dominant, led by Rory Dillon from centre back and boosted by Kieran White's calming influence on his introduction. Egan hit two frees, the second after Mahon was fouled. Ciaran Mcpartland hit two lovely scores, one a super move set up by John Sweeney and Mahon, with an Egan effort sandwiched inbetween to move us into the lead.
Egan hit two more frees won by the raiding Mahon and Middleton to secure the win.
Super performance, senior debutants Luke Middleton, Ciaran Mcpartland and Darragh Mahon particularly impressive.
Next game is against Coolera/Strandhill on Friday in Ballisodare at 6:30pm.

Team: Diarmuid O'Grady, Alan Anderson (Brian Mcpartland), John Sweeney, Liam Gilligan (0-1) (Kieran White), Rory Dillon, Joey Sweeney, Ross Trill, Gerard Doyle, Ciaran Mcpartland (0-2), Shane Moran (1-1) (Darragh Mahon (0-1)), Niall Dunican (Luke Middleton), Thomas Kerins (Conall O'Dwyer), Adrian Egan (0-9 6F)

The Junior A side look to continue their winning streak, and secure a playoff place when they play St. Molaise next Saturday evening in Scarden @ 5pm. Allsupport is greatly appreciated.

Minor Girls

Well done to the minor girls on a superb come from behind win over Geevagh/St. Michaels on a 3-13 to 3-10 scoreline last Wednesday evening in the Minor Championship

U14 Girls

Match report from U14 girls at home to Calry/St Josephs

The U14 girls played their third match of the championship at home to Calry/St Josephs this evening and got back to playing the flowing style of football that we have all become used to. We had periods of prolonged pressure where the girls ran up the points before a dogged Calry side broke a couple of times and scored a few goals. We left the field at half time ahead by 2 points, 1-10 to 3-2. It took the girls a little time to get back into their stride after half time and Calry grabbed a couple of goals and we found ourselves trailing by 2 points with around 5 minutes to go. Fair play to the girls they dug deep and fought back with a few well taken points and 2 late goals to run out winners by 4 pts 3-15 to 6-2 the final score.

U12 Boys

Hard luck to the Div 3 boys team who lost out by the narrowest of margins in the league semi-final. Onwards and upwards lads.
