St. Farnan's/ St. Pat's minor team have qualified for the minor A championship final following a great win over Ballymote/ Bunninadden in the semi final on Saturday last. This was a well deserved victory and great credit is due to the players and management. The team will play St. Molaise Gaels in the final in the near future.
Our junior team missed out on a place in the Junior B championship following defeat by St. Mary's in the semi final on Saturday. The final score was St. Farnan's 2-8, St. Mary's 2-10. St. Mary's got off to a great start start in this game and led 1-2 to no score in the opening period as St. Farnan's struggled in a number of positions. Michael Munnelly of St. Mary's was posing a lot of problems in the half forward line. We got three points without reply to narrow the defecit including a fine point from  Gary Hannon. Disaster struck again when St. Mary's got a second goal ,followed by two points to give them a seven point advantage 2-4 to 0-3. David Culkin and Gary Hannon added two more points to our tally and with a point from a free for St. Mary's the half time score read St. Farnan's 0-5, St. Mary's 2-5. Michael Mc Gowan replaced Niall Culkin after the break. The sides traded a point each. St. Farnan's had a goal chance but a shot by David Culkin drifted wide. St. Farnan's got their first goal from substitute Michael Mc Gowan. His introduction made a big difference to the game. We introduced substitutes Cormac Hallinan, Eoghan Coggins and Dónall Hanley. A second goal was scored by Michael Mc Gowan as St. Farnan's began to make a bigger impression on the game. The sides were level at 2-7 each. St. Mary's got a point before Michael Mc Gowan levelled again with a point. St. Farnan's added Niall Crean and Jason Mc Guinness in the closing minutes. St. Mary's however held out and scored a further two points to advance to the final. There was great disappointment as this was a game we might have won. Oisin Connolly, Simon Mullarkey, Padraig Culkin and David Culkin did well as did Niall Hunt in defence. Hard luck to the players and management and thanks to all for their commitment and dedication. The team was Simon Mullarkey, Patrick Flynn, Pauric Culkin, Niall Hunt, Oisin Connolly, James Flynn, Darragh Gillen, Kieran Kilgannon, Evan Kilrehill, David Culkin (0-4(1f), Declan Cawley (0-1), Gareth Mullaney, Gary Hannon (0-2), Dermot Browne, Niall Culkin. Subs: Michael Mc Gowan (2-1), Cormac Hallinan, Eoghan Coggins, Dónall Hanley, Niall Crean, Jason Mc Guinness. Subs : John Mc Nulty, Stephen Crean, Fergus Hargadon, Karl Hannon, Sean Healy, Adrian Smyth.
