It was with great pride that we learned of the selection of Evan Lyons on the Tailteann Cup team of the year. This is a fully deserved award and a proud moment for Evan's family, Shamrock Gaels and Sligo GAA.

We held our 50th Anniversary Celebration Dinner Dance last Saturday in the Clayton Hotel and it was fantastic to see a full house who thoroughly enjoyed the night. The special guest on the night was Pat Spillane and his wife Rosari. In his address on the night, Pat paid a special tribute to Evan, recognising him as one of the best defenders in the country.
We presented the covid delayed medals to our Junior Ladies who won the 2020 Junior Championship and these were presented by LGFA Chairperson, Raymond Carden.  The Men’s U19 B Championship winners medals were presented by Sligo GAA County Board Chairperson, Sean Carroll. The Men’s Junior A Championship medals were presented by Pat Spillane.
Player of the year winners were: Senior, Ben Tuohy, sponsored by the Boyd family; Junior A, Steven Willis, sponsored by the Connolly family; Junior B, Paul Leydon and U19, Dylan McKenna, sponsored by the Galvin Family. The Devina Duncan Memorial Cup was presented to the Ladies Senior Player of the year, Aoife Morrisroe by Cara Tighe. This year a new award was presented by the Lyons family in memory of John to Club members who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to the club. This year receipants were the team that organised the 5K a Day in May fundraiser which not only raised over €28K for the North West Hospice but also was an event that gave a purpose to club members at the start of the covid pandemic. They were Mark Tuohy, Frank Quinn, Mark Boyd, Brian Boyd, Niall Henry and Paul Higgins. Thanks to the Lyons family for their kind sponsorship of this award which will be an annual award. The club also made a special presentation to Lee Deignan who was part of the historic Sligo U20 Connacht Championship winning team and Paul Higgins who was part of the Management Team. Thanks to all those on the Executive Committee who put a huge effort into organising this event and ensuring its success.
The U21 team lost 4-19 to 3-7 to St Molaise Gaels in the Championship last Saturday in what is a knock out competition. The team was: Jack Duignan, Sam Tuohy, Aaron McKenna, Shane McCann, Dylan McKenna, Conor Sheridan, Conor Kearns, David Barlow, Patrick Kenny, Ciaran Kenny, Conor McMorrow, Paul Leydon, Brendan Hailstones, Lee Deignan, Sean Carroll.
