Commiserations to our women's gaelic footballers who battled tirelessly in last Sunday's Connacht junior club football final against Salthill Knocknacarra of Galway before losing out on a final scoreline of 2-17 to 1-11. On the day, our opponents were deserving winners.  A big thank-you to all the DRP supporters who made the journey to Ballyhaunis . While there's obvious disappointment this week, when the dust settles, the team and management can look back on 2022 as being a very successful one. Winning a Sligo county title and reaching a provincial final is no mean achievement. Roll on 2023.
A special word of congratulations to DRP forward Katie Maguire whose soccer exploits saw here recently named as Sligo Rovers U19 Player of the Year for the 2022 season.
Congrats to Ógie Murphy and Paddy Gormley who helped the Sligo Masters gaelic footballers win the Ruddy Cup last Saturday in Crossmolina with a 1-11 to 1-8 victory over Mayo. The Ruddy Cup is named in memory of Sligo native Brian Ruddy. It was previously contested by the Sligo and Mayos senior county teams  - and has been revived again by the Masters teams. The teams were honoured to be joined by former GAA President Dr Mick Loftus last Saturday. There's a nice photo of Ogie and Dr Loftus on our club Facebook page. Paddy Gormley played his part too - and was reportedly 'robbed' of two goals (both disallowed) during last Saturday's game.
This Friday night will be a special one for the club's four Connacht under-20 football championship winning footballers with Sligo. Eoghan Smith, Ciarán O'Reilly, James Donlon and Ross Chambers will receive their Connacht medals at a special Sligo GAA presentation dinner this Friday evening in the Clayton Hotel, Sligo, at 7:30pm.
Plans are in place for the return of the popular DRP Juvenile Awards night towards the end of this month. There is much to celebrate. Precise details will be finalised in the coming days.
A reminder that there are lots of Christmas gift ideas on the DRP online club shop. You can browse the range of DRP merchandise by visiting the club's website: drp.gaa.ie.
