Sligo GAA Football Underage Development sets out to support and develop players to achieve their full potential. 2021 proved to be a significant year with the Sligo Minor team winning their first Connaught minor title in 53 years which was a remarkable achievement for both the players and management team. This position is a great opportunity to work with young talented footballers in top class facilities and avail of high- level coaching supports and the successful candidate will be supported by Sligo GAA Football Underage Development Squad Governance and Coaching Committee and the Games Development Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities;

The primary responsibilities of the Sligo U16/U17 Manager will be;

·         Create an environment that balances player development with team performance,

·         Demonstrate the ability to lead and motivate players,

·         Manage the planning, preparation and delivery of coaching sessions,

·         Working with the Sligo GAA Underage Development Squad Governance and Coaching Committee and the Games Development Manager to plan and coordinate the season’s schedule in alignment with the club seasons,

·         Play an integral role in the Sligo GAA Underage Development Squad’s Talent Academy Program with involvement in peer learning and coach development projects,

·         Be available on occasion to represent Sligo GAA in relation to promotional Activities,

·         Carry out the role while at all times adhering to the values of Sligo GAA Football academy.

Personnel Specification;

Candidates should meet the following criteria:

·         Have a minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience coaching youth or adult GAA team(s),

·         Have experience in the development of talented players on a performance pathway,

·         Must be self-motivated, committed and enthusiastic about coaching.

Appointment is for a period of 18 months and will be based on qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be subject to an interim review after 6 months.
