Lidl One Good Club programme:

This weeks’ active event was the club’s participation in the Sligo St Patrick’s Day parade, this was the first time the club took part in the parade. A large numbers of club members young and old turned out on a damp misty day. Great credit to the organisers of the float and participants on the day. An added bonus was the award of Best Represent Theme to the club by the St Patrick’s Day Festival Committee. The awards ceremony takes place this Friday March 24th in the Glasshouse at 7pm where the overall winner will be announced.

The Highwood Hike takes on Saturday next March 25th. This coming two weeks’ theme is take notice / biodiversity, the hike will be one element of this week’s theme. Keep an eye on our Facebook / Instagram pages for further details.

There will be an introduction, recognition & immediate management of football injuries presentation on Wednesday the 22nd of March at 8pm in Geevagh Resource Centre. Tom Mc Goldrick and Michael Mc Donagh will host this chat from 8pm to 8.45pm

Our two Minor county men were again in action over the weekend, Fermanagh provided the opposition in Round 3 of the Ulster Minor League. Played in Belcoo, Fermanagh started the brighter played with the aid of a stiff breeze and raced into a 0.08 to 0.01 half time lead. Sligo struck for a goal and a point inside the first ten 2nd half minutes to get back on track, they ran out 1.08 to 0.09 winners in the end, Darragh Mastin was selected at wing back while Dara Mostyn played at wing forward and kicked two 2nd points to help the cause. Well done Lads... Their last Ulster Minor League game is away to Donegal next weekend. The round robin Connacht Minor Championship begins on Friday April 7th.

Well done to Donal and his Sligo Senior colleagues on their away win over Carlow, that leaves Sligo on 10 League Points, with a clash with Leitrim where a win or a draw will secure promotion to Division 3 for 2024. Sarah and her Sligo LGFA colleagues were defeated by Kildare in the League on Sunday afternoon last.

Best wishes to senior footballer / fitness guru Daithi O’Reilly and his fiancée Saoirse who tie the knot this coming week.
