Sligo to win it's first adult 40 x 20 title of 2009

All-Ireland championships 40 x 20 finals

Sunday March 29th in Abbeylara at 2 p.m. Ruby Masters Doubles final:

Paddy Walsh & Padraic Maye (Sligo) v Pat Ryan & Ned Flynn (Dublin)

Paddy Walsh (St. Mary's) and Padraic Maye (Castleconnor) go in search of Sligo's first adult title of 2009. Both players have plenty of experience especially Walsh who has over 25 All-Ireland's to his credit while Maye has 4 All-Ireland wins. The duo had an epic encounter win over Mayo's Sean Heaney & Michael Reilly in the Connacht final which went the distance. The final score being 19-21, 21-14, 21-16.

This is the first year the duo have played together. Walsh had played with Mick Kelly winning a number of All-Ireland titles together. However this year he has teamed up with Maye with excellent results. Maye's only doubles win in the 40 x 20 came in 1998 when he took the plaudits with Seamus O'Donnell winning the Emerald Masters B Doubles final.

Maye is well known for his athletic ability's and has a staggering 62 All-Ireland medals in 9 different athletics events. Maye recently returned home from the British Masters Athletics Indoor Track & Field Championships with 3 medals.

Both players have put in a lot of training together and this should be enough to see them claim the title
