Connacht Award for Sligo’s Paddy Walsh & All-Ireland athletics win for Padraig Maye
Legendary Sligo handball player received the special achievement award at the Connacht G.A.A. Awards Banquet that took place in the Traveller’s Friend Hotel Castlebar on Friday last. Just last December Walsh also received the National “Special Achievement” Handball Award. Next weekend Walsh is in action in the Connacht Ruby Masters Singles grade against Galway’s Peter Mulryan.
Walsh’s handball doubles partner Padraig Maye is also grabbing the headlines. Maye struck gold in the Shot Putt, Silver in the Long Jump & High Jump and bronze in the 60 metres at the recent All-Ireland Masters Championships in Nenagh. Maye has now won an amazing 63 All-Ireland medals in athletics. Walsh & Maye won the Ruby Masters Doubles 60 x 30 All-Ireland handball titles last year. The Sligo Handball Board would like to congratulate both players on their recent outstanding achievements.

Sligo will be in action against Galway in the semi-final of the Connacht Handball 40 x Championships singles on Saturday next February 13th at Galway venues.
