Ard-Chomhairle Report for November

National Hurling League:  No decision was taken until the next meeting in mid-November. In the meantime two further proposals have been forwarded to counties for their consideration.  It was also agreed that a meeting would take place with counties participating in divisions other than Division 1 to try to establish a consensus on the most appropriate league structure for these counties. Decisions will be taken at the November 16th meeting of Ard-Chomhairle.

Referees:  Football referees must complete a course on the revised football playing rules before they are eligible for appointment to referee at any level in 2014. Referees may attend the course in their own county, in a neighbouring county or online through the GAA e-learning system.

Rates on Croke Park:  These annual rates have recently been increased form €600K to €2.1 million, an increase of 350%. They will be appealed. Anybody who has any influence with politicians are asked to make representations to them on this matter.

All-Ireland Senior Final Replays:  It was agreed that in future these will be played on Saturdays.

Medical Bags for County Grounds: Counties are asked to order these which cost about€3K. It was agreed that Croke Park will pay for them.

Public Clock/Hooter: These are to be introduced for all Senior Inter-county Championship matches in both Hurling and Football. A number of challenges remain to be sorted out e.g. budgets, incidental delays, playing time, match officials, etc.

Managers Charters Rule 3.21 (xiii), Players Charter Rule 3.20 (c):  Revised versions were approved. Funding will be withheld from counties until these are in place.

One Club Model:  Ard-Chomhairle gave permission for negotiations to commence with An Cumann Camogaiochta and Cumann Peil Gaeil na mBan with a view to the establishment of structures that will facilitate the promotion and control of all Gaelic Games within one organisation.

National Club Draw:  This is going ahead. Tickets will be available to clubs shortly.

Coaching Officer Monthly Report

Padraig Clancy thanked Hurling Promotions Officer Benny Kenny for organising the presentations to our u/age hurlers in the Radisson Hotel on the Monday of the October Bank Holiday weekend with the coveted Liam McCarthy Cup in attendance with Conor Cooney.

A very large crowed was in attendance. Our secondry schools teams are competing very well in all competitions. Congratulations to Coola School on the opening of their new facilities.  Our U-14’s development squad finished off their year, defeating both Donegal and Monaghan last weekend. They are now personal fitness programmes for the winter. Well done to all the panel and their Management Team. We had over 50 U-13’s on a two day camp during the Halloween break all the players enjoyed it and must be complemented on their levels of skills indeed their clubs must take a lot of credit for their work in coaching these fine young players.

On Saturday last the Minor B Championship Final & Intermediate Championship Finals took place. Congratulations to St. Michaels who defeated St. Patricks in the Minor B Final on a score line of 3-11 to 16pts.
