The Sligo U-15 football squad had a fantastic day in DCU last saturday. The squad arrived in DCU at 11am and were greeted by Brendan Gillen a Sligo man who works in DCU and is heavily involved in the DCU Football Academy. One group of players played Dublin U-15 north team in a game. The Dublin lads opened our lads eyes in the first half with a great exhibition of high intensity football, however once the Sligo lads adapted to this they put in a tremendous second half learning very quickly what type of work rate and speed of play was needed to compete against one of the Country's top County's. There were a number of top performances on the day and 14 clubs were represented in first 15. Coman Goggins former Dublin player spoke to the lads after the game.

The rest of the group were taken through a team bonding and skills session by Brendan and his team of coaches. The lads really enjoyed this session and the Sligo GAA would like to thank Brendan for arranging the Day and putting the lads through their paces.

After the pitch sessions the lads were taken over to the DCU campus for lunch. David Kelly from Tubbercurry and Gavin Cawley St Marys to Sligo lads in the college met up with the group. David then spent and hour talking to the lads about his DCU experience and the benefits of third level college to his GAA career and academic education. After the talk Gavin gave the lads a tour of the campus.

The Sligo GAA would like to thank Michael Kennedy Director of Sport in DCU, Brendan Gillen, David Kelly and Gavin Cawley for giving up there time to make this experience special for this group of players. Thanks also to David Cummins, Sean Davey, Pat Kilcoyne, Gary Gaughan, Hubert Gilvary and Cormac Kearns for the work done with the lads this year.
