Colaiste Iascaigh produced a breathtaking display to beat Coola Vocational school in last Fridays 1st/2nd year final played in Tourlestrane. The West Sligo boys flew out of the blocks and were 2-3 to 0-0 before Coola could register a score. Daniel Rolston tapped over a free to start a 15 minute period where Colaiste Iascaigh were dominant. The orchestrator of team was Rory Mc Hugh who scored two fantastic points with his left foot and put the ball for the first goal through to his inside forward Andrew Kilcullen who coolly slotted the ball to the bottom corner. Five minutes later Keelan Kilrehill went on a mazy run which finished off with the second goal of the game and one that put Colaiste Iascaigh firmly in the driving seat.

Coola fought back hard in the next ten minutes and Darren Kelly got them off the mark with a fine point. However defensively the Easkey outfit were proving extremely hard to breakdown with James Weir and Kevin Magee having tremendous games. Mc Hugh then produced the score of the game when he took a ball from the middle of the park and side stepped three defenders on the way to smash the ball to the top of the Coola net. He tapped on another score to leave the half time score of Colaiste Iascaigh 3-4 Coola 0-1.

Coola started the second half brightly with there to four excellent chances but couldn’t produce the badly wanted scores they needed. Colaiste Iascaigh punished this at the other end with three points one from play from Mc Hugh, a free from Kilrehill and then a superb free with the outside of his right boot from Mc Hugh. Coola then hit back with a brilliant individual goal from Sean Carroll and followed this up with a Patrick Benson free to leave the score 3-7 to 1-2. However the west Sligo boys gained there momentum again as Ronan Molloy who was causing all sorts of problem for Coola tagged on a point and Kilcullen got three more one excellent effort off his left. Carroll scored a second goal for Coola who never gave up and Dylan Mc Dermott and Patrick Benson kept working very hard which helped to produce a third goal for the East Sligo lads scored by David Curran. The final say though on the night went to Colaiste Iascaigh as Gavin Connolly kicked over a fine point and Simon Mullarkey finished to the net after a mix up in the Coola defence.
