Fr Cyril Haran passed away on June 25th. Fr Cyril was a great sports person particularly in the managing and coaching of gaelic and soccer teams. He will be particularly remembered for his involvement with the St Mary's team of the late 1970's leading the club to their first county and  provincial club titles. He also managed the Sligo senior team from 1983 to 1985. At club level he also managed Roscommon Gaels and the Grange  senior team in the twilight  of his sporting career having started out his involvement with the club as a player in the 1940's. Fr Cyril retired as Parish Priest of Ahamlish & Inishmurray in 2003 and enjoyed his retirement quietly in Streeedagh since then. In addition to leaving his mark in sporting terms Fr Cyril will be even more remembered for being a great teacher in Summerhill College and a minister of great spirituality, wit and wisdom.

Always a great man for a quote one of his favourites to his charges before a game was ....."Lads, winning isn't everything (pause)...... its the only thing.

Rest in Peace Fr Cyril.
