Congratulations to our superb Minor hurlers who captured the County Minor Hurling Championship trophy for the first time on Saturday in Tubbercurry with a convincing 3-12 to 2-5 win versus local rivals Coolera Strandhill.  Despite having a strong wind advantage in the first half we fell behind by two points in the early stages but fought back to lead 1-10 to 0-2 at the break with captain Gerard O'Kelly-Lynch leading by example scoring 1-9 from all ranges and angles. Donal Conlon also scored an inspirational point from his half back position as we began to take control of the game. Our backs were outstanding throughout, as a young team, minus the injured Paul Kilcoyne and Stephen Henry, battled for every ball with Darren McNeilis, Cathal Jordan and Mark Connolly outstanding in defence. Against the breeze in the second half Coolera fought back but we limited their scoring with Kevin Banks providing their main outlet as they  Again we continued to defend stoutly and the forwards played their part as Donal Fidgeon added an early goal and Alan Kelly a late 3-pointer with captain fantastic Gerard O'Kelly-Lynch adding two good pointed frees. Liam Henry, Eoin Davey, Sean Heaney and Tony O'Kelly-Lynch also contributed massively to a great win which is testament to the great work of their manager Bill O'Kelly-Lynch with help from club members Brian Conneely, Brian McCann, Pat Maguire and Pat Hickey.
