In what is a hugely busy time of preparation for the coming year for St Marys, we think of our many students and the best wishes of the Club are sent to anyone sitting mock exams at the moment or preparing for their Leaving or Junior Certificates.

The ever popular underage program continues for the next 2 weeks in the Ursuline College sports hall from 6:15 for the under 6 age group and 7:00 for the under 8s. These sessions are for all regardless of experience, with a €2 fee per evening, to try and encourage the participation in GAA and no previous experience is necessary. Attendence is good and there are plenty of the “Saturday Coaching Team” on hand to give guidance and ensure the enjoyment of the sport.

All Underage management teams are now in place and preparations are well underway for the coming season , and training schedules will be avaliable shortly.

We will be holding registration evenings on the 18th and 25th March from 7:30 in the Club house, full details and membership forms avaliable on the website shortly.  On those evenings we will also have a “try and buy” event to allow the purchase of Club gear. Club Jerseys, Training Tops, Shorts and Socks will be avaliable to try on and buy in time for the resumption of Saturday Morning coaching on 28th March.

Adult Football

The Seniors got off to a good start in the Senior League first round in challenging conditions with goals from Seamus Cawley (2) and Mark McGoldrick driving the team to a  3-10  to 0-6 win against St Molaise Gaels at Kent Park. A special mention to Johnny Martin on his return to action after a challenging year. A hardy bunch of knowledgeable and well wrapped up supporters braved the conditions to witness some good football from the old reliables as well as the new converts to St Marys from Mayo and Offaly.

Good luck to Summerhill College Senior team who play St Jarlath’s in Connacht semi final next Saturday in Connacht Centre of excellence, players from our club involved-Niall Crawley, Oisin Kelly, Kyle Cawley, Stephen Mulligan, Conor Darcy, Nathan Rooney and Hadi Mousa.

Congratulations to Dylan Kilgallon who was a member of the UCD fresher’s team who won the All Ireland Division 1 championship final during the week beating UCC in the final.
