Intermediate
Our
intermediate team had a good win over Ardagh in a challenge game last Friday
evening and will have another game this week in preparation for the next round
of the championship which is fast approaching, depending on Sligo’s progress.
Minor
The
minor team are continuing training for their championship which will get
underway shortly. Owenmore Gaels and Drumcliffe/Rosses Point are the opposition
in the competition. All players are asked to attend training.
U-16
Our
u-16 team begin their championship campaign at home to Geevagh on Monday
evening (July 20th) at 7pm. Best wishes to everyone involved for the
upcoming campaign. Well done to Eoin Hallinan who appeared in the black and
white of Sligo in the Ted Webb Cup last Friday evening.
U-14
Our
u-14 boys are set to begin their championship with an away fixture against St
Molaise Gaels next Friday evening at 7pm in Monsignor Hynes Park. Best of luck
to everyone involved.
U-12
Commiserations
to our u-12 boys who lost out narrowly to Bunninadden, 0-13 to 0-11, in a very
competitive league semi-final last Tuesday evening. The team has shown great
improvement over the year and were unlucky to fall just short last week. Well
done to the panel of players and their management team of Michael Duffy and
Paddy Martin on a fine year.
Golf classic
Unfortunately,
adverse weather conditions similar to those on view at St Andrews at the
British Open last weekend forced the postponement of our own golfing day out
last Friday. The golf classic is now pencilled in for Friday August 7th
where hopefully the weather will be more favourable. We apologise for any
inconvenience caused.
County scene
Last
Sunday’s Connacht finals promised much but delivered little in terms of
success, with the seniors succumbing to a fine Mayo side in the main event.
However, our own Mark O’Dowd and the Sligo minor team battled tremendously to a
draw with Galway, 1-4 to 0-7, and will replay the fixture next Friday evening
at 7pm in Tuam Stadium. Best of luck to Mark and everyone involved.
On
Friday evening last, Eoin Hallinan was part of the Sligo U-16 squad taking part
in the Ted Webb Cup competition, while Tom Mahon was midfield for the Sligo
U-21 hurlers in their 0-15 to 0-14 loss to Donegal in the All-Ireland ‘C’
championship semi-final last Saturday. Well done lads.
Dancing at the Crossroads
We
are in the process of organising a novel fundraiser in Sheridan’s Bar, Kilglass
for the August Bank Holiday weekend. Music, a barbeque and great craic will all
be part of what promises to be a great weekend. Tickets and more details will
be available shortly.
Cúl Camp
It’s
that time of year again where children from around the area descend on Quigabar
for the annual Cúl Camp. It promises to be a great week again with massive
numbers set to attend. To book a place contact Michael Duffy (087) 6303567.
Black Pig Festival
Best
wishes to everyone involved in organising and running the Black Pig Festival in
Enniscrone this week.
Blotto
The
newly revamped blotto draw continues every Saturday night in local pubs. Your
continued support is greatly appreciated.
Cycle against Suicide
Enniscrone
hosted a SpinOff for the Cycle against Suicide event last Saturday, and it was
a terrific display of community spirit. Hundreds took part and travelled around
west Sligo. Well done to organiser Dermot Mullaney and all participants on a
wonderful event. Thanks to club members who helped out stewarding on the day.
