Second title
for St Molaise Gaels
St Molaise
Gaels 0-18 St Mary’s 0-14
A
superb second half comeback ensured St Molaise Gaels captured their second
underage title in the space of a week after they came from six points down at
half-time to beat St Mary’s by four points in the under-12 Division One final
at Monsignor Hynes Park last Thursday evening.
The
north Sligo outfit’s second team at this grade claimed the Division Four title
a week previous following a thrilling win over Drumcliffe/Rosses Point, and
this game was no less entertaining.
St
Mary’s, who have claimed a huge array of underage titles in recent years, were
very impressive in the opening two quarters and led 0-10 to 0-4 at the break.
However, the third quarter saw the tie swing in St Molaise Gaels’ favour and
with seven points on the bounce they led by 0-11 to 0-10 as the final quarter
approached, and the winners pressed home their advantage to claim the title.
