John Kelly Second half goal proved to be
the difference as Tourlestrane made it two wins from two. In a match that
wasn’t helped by the very poor under foot conditions the home side opened up
2-0 lead but the visitors replied with 1-4 without reply the goal coming from
Cathal Henry on 12 minutes. Three unanswered points from Harps with a brace
coming from centre forward John Rafferty kept his side in touch with ten
minutes remaining in the opening half. It looked like the sides would go in at
the break level until Brian Egan knocked over a free just before the half time
interval to leave the score at the break 1-6 -0-8.
Niall McGill had the side’s level at the
start of the second half but this was short lived when James Leonard and
Stephen Henry kicked over scores for the visitors to leave two points between
the sides once again. The match was always close and when the sides exchanged a
score a piece it looked like the match would go down to the wire until John
Kelly ensured victory with a 52nd minute goal to leave 6 points between the
sides . Credit to Harps who tried hard in the final stages but the best they
could manage was three points without reply which wasn’t enough to change the
result. It got worse for the home side in the final minutes when corner forward
Niall McGill was shown a straight red card which will rule him out of the next
game .
