St John’s Lotto

The draw for the Lotto Jackpot of E10,600, took place on Sat May 13th and the numbers drawn were 3,7,9,16.There was no winner of the jackpot and the consolation prize winners were Shane Keaveney,c/o Courtyard Café; Ita Mulligan,24 Greenfort; Edward Blake, Drumiskabole and Laura Newell,5 Caltragh Heights. Congratulations to all the winners. Tickets for the next draw on Sat May 13th can be purchased in Mc Morrow’s Shop, Cairns Rd. ;  Crozon Inn  ;  Clifford Electrical, Carraroe ;  The Blue Lagoon, Riverside ;  Canning’s  House and Garden, Cornageeha  and Molly Fulton’s Restaurant , Carraroe  or from club members. The next draw will take place on Sat May 27th in The Clubhouse. Thanks to all who support our club lotto.

Under Age Coaching

The Ward Paving / Apex Controls-sponsored, Under 6 Coaching Program commenced on Sat. May 6th and will continue from 6.00 to 7.30 each Sat at the GAA pitch in Cleveragh, opposite the Sligo Sports Complex . This is for boys and girls born in 2011 or 2012. Division 4 Football League

The Div. 4 league began on Sat May 13th with a home fixture V Calry- St Josephs, in Stenson Park, Cuilbeg with the visitors winning out on a 1-10 to 1-7 scoreline. On Sat. May 20th we have an away game V Drumcliffe/Rosses Point in Oxfield Park at 7.00 There are further fixtures scheduled for June 3rd,10th,17th and 24th.

Minor Football

Our U18 team played their third Div 3 League game in Stenson Park on Thurs past when they welcomed Castleconnor. After an entertaining hours football, where the result could have gone either way, the visitors came out on top by 2 points on a 1-16 to 3-8 scoreline. The St Johns team lined out as J Doyle, D Holmes, M Kilcawley, S Egan (0-1), A Grace,               R Gorman(0-4), S Kelly(0-1), J Walsh, J Spratt(2-0), P Hanbury. Subs JJ Mc Gowan(0-2),  K Davey(1-0). The next fixture for this group will be on June 30th V Drumcliffe – Rosses Point.

Under 14 Football

Our K & D Developments –sponsored Under 14 team having suffered defeat away to Tourlestrane in the last round of the Div 2 League have a home fixture in Stenson Park on Friday 19th against Coolera-Strandhill at 7.00. On the following Mon May 22nd they travel to Enniscrone to take on the home team.

Under 12 Boys

The under 12 boys teams travelled to Riverstown on Tues last to take on the home side Shamrock Gaels in both the Division 1 and 3 Leagues with mixed fortunes resulting. The home side came out on top in the Div 1 tie on a 25 points to 9 scoreline while in the Div 3 game our boys had their first victory of the League by a 2 points margin,13 points to 11. Well done to all the players and mentors of these two teams.

Under 12 Girls

Our Under 12 girls team lost their league quarter final away to Geevagh on Thurs last by 16 points to 9. These players have continued to improve with each outing and they can look forward to the upcoming championship with renewed enthusiasm.

Under 8/10s   

The under 8s and 10s have their next outing on Wed May 24th when they entertain Drumcliffe –Rosses Point in Stenson Park at 7.00. Players are reminded to bring their own playing gear and especially their gumshield.

Hard Luck

Hard luck to Paul Mc Namara and his colleagues on the Sligo Junior team who were defeated by Mayo on Friday last.

Congratulations

Congratulations are due to the Sligo County Board on the occasion of the Official Opening of The Centre Of Excellence in Scarden by Aoghan O Fearghail,Uachtaran Chumann Luthchleas Gael on Sunday last. This fine facility will no doubt greatly benefit all Sligo teams in the years to come.
