Well done to our ladies team for becoming the first St Marys side to reach a Championship final this year when qualifying for the intermediate championship final after defeating CT Gaels in a match played in Tubbercurry last Sunday.   It was not plain sailing in a keenly contested first half, but then our girls got momentum to pull away in the second half and end comprehensive winners.   Their opponents on finals’ day in September will be Drumcliffe-Rosses Point.

There was just the one Bord na nOg team in action during the week when our U14 lads took on Tourlestrane in the first round of the Championship.   St Marys used home advantage to the fullest when posting an impressive victory by 9-11 to 2-07.   Great start to the campaign from this squad of players.   This week our two U12 teams have league semi final action, both games being played on Tuesday evening in Kent Park.   The Division 1 side host Tubbercurry Cloonacool and the Division 3 side take on Eastern Harps.   The other team in action this week is the Minor squad who travel to St Farnons in the Championship.   Good luck to all the teams.

In Senior Football, St Marys play their opening match of the Championship against Eastern Harps.   The match is being played on Sunday in Markievicz Park with a throw in at 6pm, and will be a good indicator of both teams’ fortunes for the Championship.   Come out and support the lads in what promises to be a closely contested encounter.

Training continues at all levels in preparation for the busy weeks of Championship football ahead.
