Senior Football
A 1-12 to 1-05 victory
over Calry/St. Joseph’s ensured top spot in Group 2 of the Belfry Senior
Championship. Despite missing some key players, and going behind to the Calry
side, the boys rallied well and were good value for their win. They now play
Eastern Harps in the quarter final on Sept 24th.
Under 16 Girls
The under 16 girls travelled to Grange last Thursday to play
Molaise Gaels in a crucial match. In what can only be described as deplorable
conditions, the girls recovered from a poor start where they trailed by eight
points, to score six points, thus heading into the half-time break 3-00 to 0-06
behind. They started the second half as they finished the first; on the attack,
but unfortunately couldn’t capitalise on the scoring opportunities they
created. A return of 1-01 in the second half just wasn’t enough, as the home
side found it easier to score, eventually winning 7-01 to 1-07. On a
disappointing night, there were many fine performances. Holly Gilligan and
Caoimhe O’ Sullivan were excellent in the full-back line, while the half backs
of Gráinne Redmond, Nadine Deering and Aislinn Doggett also worked extremely
hard. Cliodhna O’ Sullivan was her usual industrious worker in midfield,
chipping in with a point, supported by Beibhinn Harte. In attack Éilis Burke
and Roisin Heneghan worked tirelessly, winning plenty of ball and setting up
many opportunities. Ellen Given (1-01), Ellen Prior (0-02), and Eva Schoen
(0-03) scored the remaining scores. Team; Sarah Lindsay, Holly Gilligan, Caoimhe
O’ Sullivan, Gráinne Redmond, Nadine Deering, Aislinn Doggett, Cliodhna O’
Sullivan, Beibhinn Harte, Roisín Heneghan, Ellen Prior, Éilis Burke, Ellen
Given, Eva Schoen; Grace Molloy, Amy Hampson, Danika Kerrigan, Amy Deering.

Under 14 Girls
Our under 14 girls secured their place in the championship
final with a good win away to Geevagh. On the attack from the throw-in the
girls ran up a score of 6-04 in the first half to the home side’s three points.
They managed to with-stand a second half comeback by Geevagh to eventually win
on a scoreline of 7-07 to 3-04. This was a very good team performance, with
some excellent individual displays. Cliodhna Davitt was imperious in the half
back line, winning every ball that came her way and distributing it to her
forwards. She had great support from Holly Gilligan and Amy Hampson, the latter
scoring an excellent first half point. The midfield pair of Cliodhna O’
Sullivan and Beibhinn Harte was on top throughout the match, while up front Amy
Deering, Shona Dalton and Mary-Kate McPartland excelled. The girls now go on to
play St. Nathy’s in the final on Sept 30th. Team; Nessa O’ Sullivan,
Grace Molloy, Ciara Lindsay, Holly Gilligan, Amy Hampson (0-01), Cliodhna
Davitt, Cliodhna O’ Sullivan (0-01), Beibhinn Harte (1-00), Keri Mitchell
(1-00), Amy Deering (2-00), Shona Dalton (1-04), Enya Hughes, Mary-Kate
McPartland (1-01). Subs: Anna Callaghan, Luna Simeoni (1-00), Emma O’ Loughlin,
Clodagh Martyn.
Junior Championship
Our junior footballers made the trip west to play
Castleconnor in the final round of the Junior B championship. In what was a
crucial match, the lads ran up an impressive 2-14 to their hosts 1-05, thus securing
second spot in the group and a semi-final clash with Molaise Gaels on Sept. 30th.

Hurling
On Friday night last Tadgh Dogget, Jack Feeney, Oisin
Hennessy and Mark Keane represented the club in the U12 county hurling skills
competition and performed admirably just missing out on a top two finish. Well
done lads.
On Sunday fourteen boys from Coolera/Strandhill
represented Sligo development hurling teams at U14/12 level in matches against
Çullion, Westmeath. Ten of the boys played on the U12 Sligo developmental
representative side which Sligo won by a point. This was a great achievement
for these lads who will hopefully go onto represent Sligo in the future. Well
done Tadhg Doggett, Oisin Hennessy (who scored a lovely point), Oisin Whelan,
Shane O'Loughlin, Mark Keane, Thomas Kinane, Jack Feeney, Jack McDaniel, Ronan
Adams and Ultan Bree.
Congratulations too to Rory Kinane,
Cormac Henehan, Patrick Chambers and Josh Parkes who all played for the U14
Sligo Development team that also won their match.
There will be a couple more Sligo County
development squad trainings before mid term break as the season draws to a
close for 2018.
Indoor hurling training will commence after mid
term school break for U7 to U12's, further details later.
