Hard Luck to Ballymote/Bunninadden Minor team losing A1 Championship final to Shamrock Gaels last Friday evening under floodlights in Scarden.  Ballymote/Bunninadden played very well in the first half recovering from a 7 point deficit to have only 2 points between the teams at half-time. Second half Shamrock Gaels went further ahead despite losing 2 players to a black card and red card.  Ballymote/Bunninadden had suffered the loss of 3 key players to injury earlier in the week, Mathew Clavin, Adam Cunnane and Conor Murray, we wish them well in their recovery. Final score B/B 2-10 SG 2-17.  Team Aaron Reynolds, Aaron Laing, Shane Langton, Oisin Conlon, James O Brien (Paddy Finan), Colm Doddy, Dylan Martin (Jack Lavin), Michael Gorman 1-0, Niall Colsh 0-1, Jack Hever, Cian Brennan,  Cian Brett, Connor Finn (Zac O Dowd), Oisin Gorman (Keith Frain), Barry Cafferty 1-7. Managers Liam Og Gormely, Joe Brennan, Keiran Tighe.

U16 play Coolera/strandhill 18th October Scarden at 7pm in U 16 shield competition.  Well done to James O Brien and Connor Finn playing for Sligo U 16 team who beat Louth during last week.

Good luck to Junior team as they will play Tourlestrane next Saturday 20th October at 4.30pm in Curry in the Junior A Championship final. Come out and support the team and management as we hope to win our first Junior championship and play Intermediate football next year.  Good luck to players, Gerry Monaghan and Joe Brennan.

Pride of place this week goes to Ballymote GF4M&O who travelled to Portmarknock last Saturday to take part in the National Blitz. With just 9 players, they played 5 games against teams with larger panels of players, Team Maura McGettrick, Breege Boyle, Alison Scanlon, Orla Mongey, Linda Frizzle, Laura Melanphy, Laura Taffe, Louise Mulvanny, and Maria White.  The season is over for this year but with the interest and the success in Portmarknock we will continue this again next year. Remark of the season by Breege Boyle “they make movies about the likes of us”.
