Ballymote Handball notes

The local club hosted the All Ireland Colleges Softball Semi Finals last Saturday.

There were nine matches played with players from Cork ,Kilkenny, Tyrone Cavan,Galway and  Sligo taking part.

Ballymote had a great win in their Semi Final match when they defeated Niall

McGee and Mathew Smith Virgina College Cavan two games to nil. They went on to be defeated in the Final by a very well balanced and skilful pair from Grennan College Kilkenny Kyle Jordan and Connor Holden two games to nil.

The winning of silver was a great achievement for the Ballymote pair.

In the other grades played at the Ballymote venue the Boys Intermediate Doubles was won by Kyle Dunne and Billy O Neill Castlecomer Community College Kilkenny defeating Brian McAleer and Jack Darcy Omagh CBS.

In the Girls Junior Singles Amy Brennan Castlecomer Community College defeated Sadhbh Ni Fhiaithearta Collaiste na Coirbe  Galway two games to nil.

Club member Laura Finn teams up with Sara Coleman Collooney when they travel to Fahy Handball Court in Co Offaly to play in the All Ireland Junior Ladies B Softball Doubles against Kilkenny opposition next weekend.

The Michael Porter Memorial Cup was played for at the local court recently.

Oliver Cassidy Swinford Handball Club defeated Shane Bruen Collooney Club two games to nil in a very entertaining final.

Margaret Porter presented the Perpetual cup to the winner.

The club will hold the Michael Hannon Memorial Tournament on Sunday Nov. 4th .This will be the final 60 x 30 competition of the year.
