St John’s International Football
Blitz
On Saturday
April 13th, St Johns hosted a festival of football for boys and girls from U9
to U15 from clubs including North London Gaels, Mayo team Parke/Keeloges,
Leitrim teams Drumkeeran and Melvin Gaels and Curry, Calry-St Josephs and St
Johns from Sligo. After the teams paraded around the pitch behind the City of
Sligo Pipe Band, the competitions began and despite the unfavourable weather
conditions a great days sport was had by all. A big thanks is due to the
organising committee for the professional way in which the event was run. Check

Senior Men’s Football; On Sat evening our senior team
travelled to West Sligo to take on recent All Ireland Junior runners up Easkey
in Round 2 of the League and they produced a much-improved performance to
overcome the home side by 2 – 10 to 2 – 8. After a slow start, our boys
gradually upped their game to lead by 1 – 7 to 0 – 6 at half time before Easkey
came back to draw level, but St Johns were not to be undone and gradually got
back on top, holding out for a 2 point victory despite a late goal for the home

we welcome Owenmore Gaels to Stenson Park for round 3 and hopefully our boys
will produce another fine display.
Minor
Football; Our minor team- amalgamated
with Owenmore Gaels- took on St Marys in Kent Park tonight and were defeated by
4 – 14 to 2 - 9. On Thurs April 25th the team play Calry-St Josephs
in Connolly Park, Collooney
Under 14 Boys Our boys had a very successful
outing when they overcame the challenge of visitors Tourlestrane in a
high-scoring contest by 7 – 9 to 3 – 11. They travel to Nace O’Dowd Park on
Thurs 25th to take on Coolaney/Mullinabreena with the throw-in at
6.30pm
Under 12 Boys Our two Under 12 teams had mixed
fortunes against neighbours St Marys last week with our Div 1 team winning by
0-14 to 0-10 while our Div 3 team were defeated by 0-3 to 0-24. The next
outings for these teams will be on Tues 30th when they travel to Kilcoyne Park,
Tubbercurry to take on Tubbercurry/Cloonacool.
St Johns Lotto The Lotto draw took place in The
Riverside Hotel on Sat 13th and the numbers drawn were 5 – 16 – 22 and 26.
There was no winner of the Jackpot prize of E13,200. The winners of the E25
consolation prizes were Ciara Holland, London; Anne Healy, Ardnaglass,
Ballymote; Kevin Giblin, Curry and Declan Linnane, London. The next draw will
take place on Sat April 27th at 8.30pm in The Clubroom, Cuilbeg. Tickets
at E2 each or 3 for E5 can be purchased in Clifford Electrical, Carraroe; The
Blue Lagoon, Riverside; Gerry Mc Morrow’s Mace Shop, Cairns Rd; Molly Fulton’s
Bar and Restaurant, Carraroe; Canning House and Garden, Cornageeha or in The
Crozon Inn, Caltragh or from club members. The Lotto can now be done on line.

Easter Camp
A coaching
camp will be held in Stenson Park, Cuilbeg over the Easter holidays on Tues 23rd
Wed 24th and Thurs 25th. The camp costs E20 and
registration take place on Tues at 9.30. It takes place each day from 10.00 to
2.00pm.
St Johns Nursery Coaching Program for
5 and 6 year old boys and girls will begin on Sat May 11th from 10.30 to 11.30am
at Cleveragh GAA Pitch -
(opposite the Sports Complex). The cost is E30 which include a free kit
